History Doesn’t Repeat Itself, Although It Does Occasionally Rhyme History has a tendency to repeat itself Historic recurrence is the repetition of similar events in history. The concept of historic recurrence has variously been applied to the overall history of the world, to repetitive patterns in the history of a given polity, and to any two specific events which bear a striking similarity. As memory fades, events from the past can become events of the present. Some, like author William Strauss and historian Neil Howe, argue that this is due to the cyclical nature of history — history repeats itself and flows based on the generations. قصيدة حديث الروح إلقاء أم كلثوم | للشاعر محمد إقبال كتبت الأخت ليلى صالح من العراق قصيدة " حديث الروح " لحنها فيلسوف النغم " رياض السنباطي " ومن نظم شاعر باكستان الكبير د. " محمد إقبال " والتي قد قام بجهد ترجمتها إلى العربية الشاعر الكبير " الصاوي شعلان " ( 1902 -1982 ) لابد لي ولزيادة معلوماتنا عن هذه القصيدة والجهد الرائع الذي بذله شاعرنا البصير هذا أن أوفي حقه في جزالة نقلها إلى العربية .. فبعد النجاح المذهل لرباعيات الخيام والتي ترجمها أحمد رامي عن الفارسية ، طاب للسيدة أم كلثوم أن تغني للشاعر محمد إقبال ، شاعر باكستان الكبير وكان هذا الكلام في منتصف الستينيات من القرن الماضي وقد وقع الاختيار على قصيدة دينية فلسفية رائعة وهي في حقيقتها قصيدتين هما ( شكوى ) و ( جواب الشكوى ) فاختارت أم كلثوم أبياتا من القصيدتين جمعتهما في أغنية واحدة أسمتها: حديث الروح وحكاية ترجمتها هي أنها أوكلت ذلك للصاوي شعلان باعتباره شاعرا ، وخريجا لقسم اللغات الشرقية في جامعة القاهرة ، ويجيد اللغتين الفارسية والأوردية التي هي لغة إقبال الأم ، لكنه لم ي...

George Bernard Shaw في إحدى الحفلات، جلست إمرأة فاتنة بجانب الكاتب الشهير جورج_برنارد_شو ، فهمس في أذنها :ـ هل تقبلين أن تقضي معي ليلة مقابل مليون جنيها ؟!!ـ إبتسمت و ردّت في إستحياءٍ :ـ طبعا.. بكل سرورـ عاد وسألها مرة ثانية بعدما إقتنع برضاها، هل من الممكن أن نخفّض المبلغ إلى عشر جنيهات؟!!ـ فغضبت و صرخت في وجهه :ـ من تظنني أكون يا هذا..؟!!ـ فقال :ـ سيدتي.. نحن عرفنا من تكونين، نحن فقط إختلفنا في قيمة الأجر..!!ـ وقد أدرج هذه القصة الساخرة في مذكراته، مشبهاً إياها بما يحصل ...حيث تتغير المواقف عند الإنتهازيين بناءً على من يدفع أكثر، فإذا إنخفض أجرهم إنقلبوا إلى المعارضة وحدّثونا عن المبادىء والشرف..!ـ
